Mike was born in 1965 in Tracy. He attended Tracy area grammar schools and in 1983 graduated from Bellarmine College Preparatory. In 1987, Mike graduated from Santa Clara University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics. Upon graduation from college, Mike went to work for Souza Realty & Development in his current capacity.
Mike is quite involved in many professional associations including the Central Valley Association of REALTORS, the REALTORS Land Institute, the National & California Association of REALTORS,
the Counselors of Real Estate, the Building Industry Association of the Delta and the Urban Land Institute.
Mike has served on the Board of Directors of the Central Valley Association of REALTORS, including one year as Chairman of the Board. He has served on and chaired a variety of committees for the Association. He
has served on the Board of Directors of the California Association of REALTORS, and has served on many committees including the chair of the Land Use & Environmental Committee, the Federal Issues Committee, and the California Real Estate Political Action Committee. Mike was appointed as the Federal District Coordinator for the 11th Congressional District, serving as the state and national association's representative to Congressman Richard Pombo. He was also appointed as the association's Key Contact for the 17th and 26th Assembly Districts and the 5th and 7th Senate District. He has served on the Board of Directors of the California Chapter of the REALTORS Land Institute, an affiliate of the National Association of Realtors whose members specialize in land sales, and has served on national committees.
Mike has earned the Accredited Land Consultant designation
(ALC). This designation is awarded to individuals who complete a rigorous three-year candidacy that includes education, committee work, and review of land sales work done by the Candidate. Mike is one of only approximately 900 REALTORS in the nation who holds this designation, recognizing him as one of the premier land sales specialists in the U.S.
Mike has also
earned the Counselor of Real Estate designation
(CRE). The Counselors of Real Estate is an
international group of recognized professionals
who provide expert, objective real estate advice
on real property and land-related matters.
Mike has served on the Board of Trustees of Sutter Tracy Community Hospital, where he served three years as Chairman of the Board. He is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Tracy Community Memorial Hospital Foundation, is a member of the Hospital's Pillar Society. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Boys and Girls Club of Tracy, having served
four years as Chairman of the Board. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Arts Leadership Alliance, a non-profit group working in partnership with the City of Tracy to develop a cultural arts center in downtown Tracy. He is a member of Tracy Sunrise Rotary and has served on their Board of Directors numerous times, and has served on the Board for the Tracy Chamber of Commerce. Mike has served on numerous civic committees including chairing the Tracy Tomorrow Environmental Concerns Committee, the Downtown Revitalization Committee, the Tracy School Facilities Committee, the Tracy Schools Unification Committee, the Tracy General Plan Housing Committee, the Tracy Bean Festival Steering Committee, serving as Chairman for two years, and the Tracy Tomorrow 2000 Economic Development Committee.
In 1993, the City of Tracy and the Tracy Chamber of Commerce honored Mike with the Professional of the Year Award. Also in 1993, the San Joaquin County Juvenile Justice Commission nominated Mike as Outstanding Person of the Year. In 1995, the Central Valley Association of REALTORS named Mike REALTOR of the Year.
Mike oversees our San Joaquin County development projects, our construction projects, and our real estate brokerage. He does a considerable amount of consulting, helping developers and builders gain land use entitlements. He is a real estate broker.
